The American Association for Psychoanalytic Education (AAPE) is an independent, tax-exempt, non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to promoting excellence in psychoanalytic education.

AAPE works to ensure candidates experience a broad and sustained immersive psychoanalytic training experience by offering consultation, education, and on-site visits to our member institutes. In collaboration with our member institutes, AAPE establishes, promotes, and maintains psychoanalytic breadth and depth in training standards.

The AAPE Board of Directors and its committees work actively with our institutes and related professional organizations. Inquiry, dialog and participation with our faculty and candidates is ongoing and strongly encouraged. AAPE conducts periodic review of educational programs through site visits and consultations. These are often two-way conversations that lead to sharing of best practices among AAPE institutes in candidate recruitment, curriculum innovation, and faculty development.

The AAPE Board of Directors and its committees are committed to seeking active participation from institute faculty, candidates, and professional organizations on issues bearing on standards and psychoanalytic education.
